THE WEALD BOOK AWARD 2020

Weald Book Award bookmark

It was an absolute honour to be nominated for the Weald Book Award 2020.

There was stiff competition from the other brilliant books:

  • The Train to Impossible Places by P.G. Bell
  • Malamander by Thomas Taylor
  • Pages and Co by Anna James
  • We Won an Island by Charlotte Lo
  • A Darkness of Dragons by S.A. Patrick

I read every one of them and they were all fantastic books. I was SPEECHLESS to come away with third place.

Great thanks to all the children who read my book, engaged so well with it and voted for Harriet!

Weald Book Awards
Thomas Taylor, S.A. Patrick, P.G. Bell, Me

Thomas Taylor received first place for Malamander. What a great book (soooo imaginative, go read it!) and a lovely man too.

S.A. Patrick came second for A Darkness of Dragons. I loved how he took the idea of the Pied Piper and span an amazing yarn around it. A great epic adventure. I can’t wait for the sequel!

The work that the kids put into the whole project was of such a good standard too. They added new characters to our books, came up with alternative endings and even made real trailers. See this beautiful trailer made by the Year 6s at Wisborough Green Primary for SPEECHLESS.
